Parents are a critical element of Troop 1.  We need your help to support the Scouting way and help us help your Scouts grow. We always need volunteers to drive, act as merit badge counselors, serve on the Troop Committee (e.g. activities, treasurer, advancement, recruitment, etc.) or as Assistant Scoutmasters.

+ Please support your Scout in regularly attending meetings and participating in campouts, hikes and other activities.  Please reinforce the Troop policy that Scouts should have their Scout handbook and be in full uniform (no sneakers) at meetings.

+ Drivers and parents attending Troop 1 activities must take the online youth protection course.

+ We love having fathers (and mothers) on campouts.  Please remember that Boy Scouts is about Scout-led leadership, so resist the natural instinct to help your son set up a tent, build a fire or cook dinner.  This is place for Scouts to learn these things.  if your boy is stuck, have him ask another Scout for help.  Troop 1 follows the patrol method, with Scouts camping and eating together in their patrols (not with their dad or mom). Our policy is absolutely no electronic devices during campouts or hikes, so please, parents, no checking your phones around the campfire, during hikes, etc.  And the BSA absolutely prohibits alcohol and tobacco on all Scouting activities.

Questions? Ask an Assistant Scoutmaster or the Scoutmaster.
